Your Neighbourhood Dental Practice in Hawthorne, CA

Hawthorne sits in the South Bay, a city of 88,083 people as of the 2020 census, with rocket manufacturing on one side and Beach Boys history on the other. Our practice has been part of this neighbourhood for a long time, and we write for the families who live here.

The city we work in

Hawthorne was incorporated as a city in 1922 and took its name from the American writer Nathaniel Hawthorne. It is one of the seventeen cities that make up the South Bay subregion of the Los Angeles area. Many of the people who walk through our door grew up here, moved here for work, or came to be near family, and the mix of the neighbourhood shows in the waiting room.

According to city demographic figures, the largest group in Hawthorne is Hispanic at 54.7%, followed by Black residents at 24.8% and White residents at 9.2%. Among residents aged five and older, 60.8% speak a language other than English at home, and 48.7% speak Spanish at home. About 32.1% of residents were born outside the United States. Because so many of our neighbours are more comfortable in Spanish, we keep information available in Spanish so that appointments and questions are easier to handle for the whole family.

A city of aerospace and music

Hawthorne's aerospace story runs deep. The Northrop Aircraft Corporation, founded by Jack Northrop, moved into its new Hawthorne home in February 1940, and the local airport was officially renamed Hawthorne Municipal Airport on April 24, 1948. That field is now drawing new attention: air taxi company Archer Aviation has signed a long-term lease to develop a base there, with plans for passenger-carrying operations tied to the 2028 Summer Olympics.

SpaceX has its historic operational base in Hawthorne at 1 Rocket Road, a campus where rockets and spacecraft components are designed, engineered, and built. The company was founded in 2002. And for anyone who grew up with California radio, the Beach Boys Historic Landmark at 3701 W. 119th Street marks the childhood home of Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson. The house itself was demolished in the mid-1980s during construction of the Century Freeway, and a plaque was placed there in May 2005 as California Historical Landmark No. 1041.

Getting here

Our name points to the Lennox community just next door, and the Metro C Line reflects that shared geography. The Hawthorne/Lennox station, named after Hawthorne Boulevard and the Lennox community, opened as part of the Green Line on August 12, 1995, and sits below grade in the median of the Century Freeway. It recorded an average of 1,470 weekday boardings in fiscal year 2025 and offers 362 parking spaces, which makes it a straightforward option for patients who travel by rail. If you would like directions or want to confirm the best way in, our contact page has the details.

What our practice does

We are a general neighbourhood dental practice. Day to day, that means routine check-ups and cleanings, examinations, and the kinds of restorative and preventive care that families come back for over the years. We take time to explain what we see, talk through the options, and let you decide what is right for you. You can read more about the range of care we provide on our services page, and more about the people behind the practice on our about page.

We serve households across the school-age spectrum. The Hawthorne School District runs grades K through 12 from its offices at 14120 South Hawthorne Boulevard and enrolled 7,581 students in 2020–2021, including a Two-Way Bilingual Immersion program open to incoming transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students. Older students often attend Hawthorne High School, which opened in 1951 and belongs to the separate Centinela Valley Union High School District. Between the school run and work schedules, we know appointment times matter, and we try to make them work for busy weeks.

Costs and coverage

We understand that cost is part of every dental decision. Sales tax in the City of Hawthorne rose to 10.500% on April 1, 2025, and the everyday budget is on everyone's mind. We are glad to walk through what your plan covers before treatment begins; our insurance and financing page outlines how we handle coverage and payment so there are fewer surprises.

If you live or work in Hawthorne and are looking for a practice that knows the neighbourhood, we would be happy to meet you.
