Dental Care for Redondo Beach, CA Families

Redondo Beach is a compact South Bay city of 69,291 people occupying 6.2 square miles along the coast of Santa Monica Bay. Lennox Family Dental, established in Inglewood in 1993, is a direct drive north on Hawthorne Boulevard and has seen patients from across the South Bay for over three decades.

A compact, well-established city

Redondo Beach incorporated on April 18, 1892, when residents voted 177 to 10 to adopt cityhood — a margin that reflected how clearly the community already knew its direction. Today, 69,291 people live across 6.2 square miles, putting the density at approximately 10,986 residents per square mile. The 2024 median household income stands at $150,245 per U.S. Census figures. In ZIP 90278, 64.5 percent of adults 25 and older hold a bachelor's degree or higher, nearly twice the national rate of 35.7 percent.

King Harbor

King Harbor sits at the southern end of Santa Monica Bay, about 17 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles. It is named after Representative Cecil R. King, the congressman from California's 17th District who was the driving force behind its construction; work began in 1956. King Harbor was formally dedicated on November 19, 1966. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers describes it as extending approximately 4,000 feet along the coast and roughly 2,000 feet wide at its widest point, making it the largest privately owned marina between Marina del Rey and Newport Beach. The harbor operated as a commercial port in the early 1900s and shifted its focus to pleasure craft and fishing boats after the Port of Los Angeles became fully operational.

Aerospace and schools

Northrop Grumman's Aerospace Systems division is headquartered in Redondo Beach, producing aircraft, spacecraft, high-energy laser systems, and microelectronics. The company's South Bay presence spans Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and El Segundo, making the corridor a notable center for defense and aerospace employment.

The Redondo Beach Unified School District enters the 2025–26 school year with 9,484 students across 14 schools — a TK–12 enrollment whose composition RBUSD reports as 51 percent Caucasian, 16 percent Asian, 14 percent Hispanic, and 11.6 percent Multiracial. The district submits this data annually to the California Department of Education through CALPADS.

Functional Zero homelessness

On October 30, 2024, the South Bay Cities Council of Governments announced that Redondo Beach had become the first city in Los Angeles County to reach Functional Zero Street Homelessness. The standard requires that people placed in interim or permanent housing outnumber those who become homeless over a rolling six-month window, and that the median duration on the streets remain below 90 days. The city began that work in 2017 by hiring a single case manager when the count stood at 261 people.

Dental care a short drive north on Hawthorne

Lennox Family Dental has operated from 10823 Hawthorne Blvd, Suite A, Inglewood since 1993 — over three decades serving families from Inglewood and the surrounding South Bay. Hawthorne Boulevard connects Redondo Beach to the office without requiring a freeway, putting the practice within easy reach for most of the city. Dr. John Cohen, DDS founded the practice and leads it today; the dentist who opened the doors in 1993 is still in the chair. Learn more about the practice and Dr. Cohen.

Care covers general and preventive dentistry — cleanings, exams, X-rays, fluoride, and sealants — alongside cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, pediatric care, orthodontics, and oral surgery. All services are delivered in-house, so patients don't need to manage referrals across different offices. See the full list of services.

The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spanish-speaking staff are on duty every day. Same-day dental emergencies are accommodated whenever scheduling allows, and new patients are welcome.

Most major PPO dental plans are accepted — including Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, and Guardian — with claims filed on your behalf. Flexible payment options through CareCredit and Cherry are available when treatment exceeds what insurance covers. Review insurance and financing details, or contact the office to confirm your plan before your visit.

Other South Bay communities the practice serves include El Segundo, Hawthorne, and Lawndale.
